C.G. Jung's Red Book: Art, Mandalas and Active Imagination “The Wealth of the Soul Exists in Images”

Jung the artist will be revealed through the lens of The Red Book. The artistic influences, life experiences and psychological components that contributed to the development of The Red Book will be identified. Jung’s theoretical discoveries of the integrative art form of the mandala and active imagination will be explored as vehicles for Jung’s and participants’ individuation process. Dialoguing around images, participants will have the opportunity to experience what Jung himself did in drawing and will learn techniques that can be applied personally and clinically.
You may want bring a writing journal, pen, and pencil to the workshop.

Learning Objectives:
Upon Completion of this training, participants will be able:

  1. To identify the artistic influences, life experiences and psychological components that contributed to the development of C.G. Jung’s Red Book.

  2. To apply the Jungian theory of projection and active imagination to folios selected from The Red Book.

  3. To draw a personal mandala and engage in active imagination, dialogue and circumambulation.

  4. To model group and mandala drawing techniques that can be applied to personal and clinical use.

Our Presenter: Jane Selinske, Ed.D., LCSW, NCPsyA-LP, BC-MT, is a licensed Jungian Analyst, a practitioner of Mandala Assessment, and a Board Certified Music Therapist. She is currently a faculty and board member of the C.G. Jung Foundation, the C.G. Jung Institute of New York, where she was the former Director of Training. She is on the faculty of the Institute for Expressive Analysis in New York. Dr. Selinske was a docent at the Rubin Museum of Art during the first exhibition of The Red Book, a participant in The Red Book Dialogues and a presenter at the Rubin Museum of Art film discussion series. She is a frequent lecturer and workshop facilitator and practices in Montclair, NJ and New York City, NY.

CE Credits
This activity is being co-sponsored by the National Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis (NAAP) and The Philadelphia Jungian Professional Club. NAAP is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor Continuing Education (CE) for psychologists. NAAP maintains responsibility for this program and its content. This program provides four (4) hours of CE credits for Psychologists and Social Worker Board licensees.

FEES: $125 (Enrollment is limited.)
Participants requesting CE credits will be charged an additional $20 ($5 for each credit).
